Resource Development
To ensure a sustainable future for Asia Iron Australia; the Geology team continue to conduct exploration activities to identify and develop resources throughout the Mid-West.
The geology team’s objectives are:
- To explore for and locate new high quality deposits in the Extension Hill project area and surrounds;
- To accurately define resource grade and tonnages in these deposits through resource modelling for project development;
- To assist in the preparation of ore reserves for mining; and
- To provide ongoing geological support to the mining operation.

Extension Hill Magnetite Project:

The Extension Hill Magnetite Project is located on the traditional country of the Badamia People. 280km south east of Geraldton and 380 km North of Perth. The Extension Hill Magnetite Project has a total JORC compliant magnetite resource of 1,699 million tonnes. |
Other Mid-West Projects
Other Mid-West Projects
AIA’s other Mid-West projects are not at an advanced stage as the Extension Hill Magnetite Project and the focus is on initial exploration activities such as:
- Target generation – both “green fields” (in new areas) and “brown fields” (in existing or abandoned mine areas). Exploration techniques used are remote sensing methods (satellite imagery, gravity, aeromagnetics etc), desktop studies of existing geological data, and field reconnaissance visits to the area;
- Target testing – field mapping, drill testing, development of local geological models, refinement of targets, and follow-up drilling;
- Sampling to determine mineralogical, geological and geochemical properties of the ore; and
- Preliminary evaluation through resource modelling and estimation of the grade, tonnes and likely economic viability of the deposit.
